The year is 2014 and it would be the year we decided to buy and build our house. With that plan initiated there was no doubt that I bought a house with my future wife.
During this decision there were already plans to have a vacation on Bali, Indonesia. But I decided not to tag along and skip the vacation to save money. Until a friend inspired me with the most awesome idea for a proposal. By this time it was about April 2014. Planted with the idea I started to tell everybody from the family and some of our closest friends that I was going to propose this year.
So I initiated my plan to propose to Mel. We reached the 19th of October and Mel is leaving for vacation with her Mom. It gave me a lot of freedom to arrange the proposal from home, because indeed I was planning to pop the question on Bali.
With my suitcase packed and armed with an engagement ring I left on Sunday the 26th of October towards Indonesia. After a long trip I got on Bali the 28th of October and the first thing I did was trying to get some food inside of me! Because of the excitement I couldn’t even think about food. After a good meal we went to the spot where it would happen. The KupuKupu Barong in Ubud. After checking the spot I could only imagine how awesome it would all be.
By this time my brother in law was telling Melanie and Brenda that he had a surprise for them in store. So the entire family left towards Ubud. Arriving at the KupuKupu Barong they blindfolded only Melanie. She had no idea that Brenda wasn’t and that I was ready and armed with the ring and the question on the same location.
Gently they lead her to the platform on the infinity pool overlooking the forest. There she was standing in the middle and I got the sign that it was going to happen right now. So I rushed over to her and I took place right in front of her. I gently took the blindfold off. And in a split second I could see the disbelieve and amazement in her eyes and gently see some tears. That was the moment she realized what was going to happen.
I told her that I love her, and she brings the best out of me and that I believe God has brought us together. With that said, I got on one knee and I asked her that one important question.
Will you marry me? ..........
